While Canon might be known for the DSLRs and some of their more notable enthusiast-level compacts, the company’s mirrorless efforts haven’t exactly been that well-received. However it seems that Canon is working to remedy that, and one of the ways is by approaching professionals and asking what they want.

Given how Sony is more or less having free reign with its full-frame mirrorless cameras with no one to challenge them, it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that companies such as Canon and Nikon might have something in the works. In fact it seems that according to recent rumors, Canon might have more than one such camera in development.
It was initially thought that it was impossible to shrink down a full-frame sensor that could fit into a non-DSLR body, but that’s exactly what Sony has done where they have launched not only full-frame mirrorless cameras, but full-frame compacts as well. This has ultimately spurred the competition to work on similar devices.
When it comes to compact cameras, Canon’s PowerShot G-series is one that is favored by many photographers, even professionals who might just want a compact camera to take with them on a holiday as opposed to their bulky DSLRs, so you can imagine that many are curious to see what the future of the series holds.
If you’re looking for a camera that’s relatively compact but can take some pretty good photos, but also don’t want to have to deal with the hassle of lugging around and juggling multiple lenses like with mirrorless cameras, then Canon’s PowerShot G series of cameras have proven to be pretty good at getting the job done.
While Canon’s DSLRs are well-known and have a pretty solid reputation around the world amongst professional photographers, the company’s mirrorless efforts haven’t exactly been particularly well-received, at least not compared to Canon’s competitors like Sony or even Fujifilm.
If you were thinking of getting your hands on either the 100th anniversary edition of the Nikon D5, or the recently launched Canon EOS 6D MK II, then you might be disappointed to learn that coincidentally enough both cameras have been announced as being delayed.
