The Garmin GMR 24 is a 24″ 4kW radome that aims to be the ultimate when it comes to marine radar. According to authorities at Garmin, “The unit features four thousand watts of transmit power, dual rotation speed for faster near-target updates, and plug-and-play reliability on the Garmin Marine Network – with a footprint that works on almost any boat.” Features include an industry-leading 3.6-degree horizontal and 25-degree vertical beamwidth, a maximum effective range of 48 nautical miles, and a minimum range of 20 meters, sensitivity and tuning controls (gain, sea clutter, and rain clutter), selectable interference rejection, and a waterproof 100-megabit per second plug-and-play proprietary network. The Garmin GMR 24 will retail for $1,799.99 when it is released.
