Broadcom Crystal HD Card Not Detected In The Asus Eee PC 1005PR

While the Asus Eee PC 1005PR is a pretty nice netbook from Asus, one of its main selling points would have to be the built-in Broadcom Crystal HD card, allowing you to playback HD videos. The thing is, many users who received this netbook were unable to find the Broadcom Crystal HD card in their device manager, though it isn’t clear whether the netbooks were shipping without the card or whether it is a bad driver that is causing the OS to not pick it up. Of course, there will be some folks who will not notice the missing HD card, but if you’ve already purchased one of these, maybe you’d like to take a peek into your device manager and see if everything is fine? Specifications of the $399 Asus Eee PC 1005PR include:

  • 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 WXGA LED Display
  • Intel UMA graphics with Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator (apparently, anyways)
  • 1GB DDR2 RAM (Max 2GB)
  • 250GB hard drive
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n
  • Bluetooth
  • 0.3 megapixel webcam
  • Up to 11-hours battery life
  • Windows 7 Starter Edition
