Fujitsu ScanSnap Scanner celebrates 50th anniversary with new special edition

Fujitsu’s ScanSnap Scanner will be released in a new special edition to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary (that’s double the age of Mario!). This USB-powered, bulk document scanner will come in Urushi lacquer and gold accents, where the new finish will make your ScanSnap S1500 and S1300 look as though it was some sort of antique Japanese woodwork. Makes sense though, since the lacquerware technique originated from PFU’s (company under Fujitsu) home region in Japan centuries ago. These limited edition scanners won’t come cheap either, retailing up to $3,200 each, so expect them to be purchased as gifts for business partners or high ranking executives instead of being an impulse buy. We don’t think the average Joe on the street would be checking these out anytime soon though.
