Apple’s MacBook Air notebooks have been very popular for folks who crave portability and now notebook brands such as Acer, Asustek and Lenovo are reportedly set to follow suit and launch 13.3- to 14-inch notebooks that feature ultra-thin designs and will be built around Intel’s Sandy Bridge platform by the end of Q1 2011. These new notebooks will take a leaf from Apple’s book and separate the manufacturing of the main display cell from the backlight and back frame, helping reduce the thickness of the display, which is key to coming up with a slim notebook. Will we see any notebooks out there with a similar form factor to the MacBook Air anytime soon?
