It’s the start of the year and every company out there is bullish about the year ahead of them, though some are already in dire straits. Following the news that Motorola is looking at some major shipments of its XOOM Android-powered tablet, word is going around that RIM could have as many as one million BlackBerry PlayBook tablets shipping for the March launch. The company behind the popular BlackBerry is hoping that a big launch will help it hit this milestone in just the first quarter of shipments and if it does, it will eclipse Motorola’s target of 800,000 XOOM tablets. When launched, the PlayBook will only be available with Wi-Fi, though a 3G version should be on the way. It’s also worth noting that Sprint will be offering a WiMAX-ready 4G PlayBook.
