M-3DI standard: one pair of 3D glasses to rule them all

If having a separate pair of 3D glasses for each 3D device you have at home annoys you – you’re not alone. Panasonic and XPAND 3D have just announced that they have formed a new 3D standard for 3D active-shutter eyewear. M-3DI, the standard, will be licensed beginning next month and with it they hope to achieve unity amongst 3D device manufacturers from all over the world. If all OEMs agree to adhere to the standards set, consumers will only need one pair of 3D glasses to watch all their 3D content regardless if they’re at home or at the movies. With a whole bunch of OEMs including Hitcahi, Mitsubishi and ViewSonic already agreeing to support the standard, it looks like they’re off to a great start. Now to get everyone else on board.
