You can add “DJ” to the list of jobs that might just see robots or software take over in the future – Denise, as “she” has been dubbed, is a non-human DJ who will take to the airwaves next week in San Antonio, Texas. Being an artificial intelligence (AI) program that was specially developed by Guile 3D Studio, it was meant to serve as a virtual assistant that will answer phone calls, check email, conduct Web searches as well as perform appointments amongst others.

Dominique Garcia, a radio personality based in San Antonio, actually picked up Denise for $200, where it was programmed to function as a DJ. Denise will make her “debut” this August 24th from 1pm to 4pm CST on KROV.

Gracia claims that “a lot of radio DJs are pretty upset with me because it does work” – but at the moment, Denise does need the help of human assistance to write the script so that Denise can perform her talk breaks, while slotting the voice track into the playlist. Bear in mind that Denise is relatively useless without a talented writer who can write a compelling script for the listeners. Anyone willing to write scripts for shock jocks like Howard Stern?
