[CES 2012] The first press conference for us at CES 2012 will see us stepping into LG’s world, where they promptly got things started with a brief introduction of one of their more notable products – the 84″ behemoth that carries the “Ultra Definition” moniker which sees it pack the resolution of four 42″ Full HD displays. Up next is the 3D Gesture Interface that offers a Kinect-like user interface. No idea on why it needs to have the “3D” description attached to it, so we do hope to check it out on the show-floor. Imagine slashing fruits in Fruit Ninja with this, although you might not be wearing office wear like the lady in the image above.

Apart from that, LG also continues to push on sharing among devices, but no halo effect has been created just yet – and as to whether LG will succeed or not in the long run, that remains to be seen. LG also took the opportunity to introduce a Passive 3D experience to their Smart TV range, which makes it easier for consumers as they can always choose a pair of passive 3D glasses on their own. As for the 55″ LG HDTV, it looks really amazing – especially its contrast, and this has just made us want to see more of it on the showfloor afterwards.

LG would not be LG without any new phone announcement, and their latest is one from Verizon – the long awaited LG Spectrum which will feature an IPS 720p display that LG touts is more battery-efficient compared to OLED displays. Running on a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and accompanied by an 8-megapixel camera at the back that does Full HD video recording, the LG Spectrum is set to burn up Verizon’s 4G LTE network in style. For the next press conferences at CES, you can always follow us live.
