Just yesterday we reported that the Australian consumer watchdog was not too happy about Apple advertising their new iPad with 4G capabilities in Australia. They alleged that consumers would be misled into thinking that by purchasing the new iPad, they would be able to hook onto 4G LTE networks in Australia. Possibly hoping to avoid an unnecessary lawsuit that might damage their reputation, Apple acted swiftly and are now offering refunds to customers who felt like they might have been misled over the 4G capabilities of the new iPad.

“If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, in addition to your rights as a consumer under the Competition and Consumer Act and other applicable Australian consumer protection laws and regulations, you may also be eligible to return the item for a refund under Apple’s Sale and Refund Policy (as described below) … For eligible products, you have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return.”

On top of a refund, the Cupertino company has also agreed to publish a clarification and state that the new iPad while working on international standardized 4G networks, will not be compatible with Telstra’s (an Australian carrier) network in Australia. More information on “4G” and 4G LTE can be found here.
