I personally enjoyed Real Steel a whole lot when the movie was released last year, and for good reason, too, considering how the movie had the right balance of human character development as well as developing an emotional attachment between the audience and Atom, the robot that could. Naoki Maru and his son, hailing from Japan, have managed to transform their life-sized King Kizer humanoid robot into an uncanny replica of Atom (behavior-wise, not the physical design itself), where King Kizer can replicate and mirror the movement of a human.

Maru calls his creation the “Real King Kizer”, where it will feature a feedback system that makes use of the ASUS Xtion PRO LIVE sensor, which is somewhat similar to the Kinect from Microsoft. This enables the robot’s operator to force the robot to mimic their actions in real-time, although do expect a small lag that perhaps, is not noticeable at all when the action gets thick and fast. No idea on whether the Real King Kizer has a heart as big as Atom though, but this might just be the advent of Real Steel in the flesh.
