If you are a Microsoft Azure customer, then we are pleased to inform you that you would definitely be on the receiving end of a 33% refund for your cloud services where February 2012 is concerned, simply because of the leap day outage. Microsoft says that this refund will arrive regardless of whether your service was impacted or not. A blanket compensation – now this is definitely what I call customer service! This move to offer a refund was meant to prevent folks from moving away from Microsoft’s cloud service. At the moment, cloud services seem to be moving towards the price war model, and history shows that normally, price wars are devastating for everyone. Still, Microsoft might be looking out to garner a critical mass, hence this expected move which will surely smooth out any ruffled feathers out there.
