Barnes & Noble has decided to go against the grain and ship the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight earlier than expected, targeting those who placed a pre-order for the device. The NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight has been touted to be the first E Ink Reader in the world to come with patent-pending lighting technology which will do away with a bright glare that becomes problematic when you want to read in bed at night, while your partner needs his or her beauty sleep. The battery life on this puppy is said to last for up to a month on a single charge, never mind that the light is on. Despite that, it has another plus point that travelers would love – this is one of the lightest NOOK devices to date.

According to William Lynch, Chief Executive Officer of Barnes & Noble, “Our new, patent-pending GlowLight technology coupled with the most advanced E Ink display available make this product the most versatile, high-utility Reader ever and the only device of its kind. It’s like having two Readers in one, with our breakthrough GlowLight technology making the device as exceptional for reading in the darkest bedroom as on the brightest beach, and all at the amazing value of just $139.”

Pre-orders of the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight will ship throughout this month, while one can expect limited quantities of it from early May. You know what they say, the early bird gets the worm!
