Starting from today, the Samsung 830 SSD (128, 256, 512GB) will be bundled with a full (downloadable) version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (from UbiSoft), at least for U.S and Canadian customers. If you were thinking of getting one of those drives, don’t forget to claim your game. Also, keep in mind that this bundle will not last forever – I am saying that for reader who may land on this page weeks or months from now.

For Samsung, the choice was logical: many of their customers buy SSD drives because they want their games to load faster, and adding a popular game such as Ghost Recon into the package may either be an extra incentive, or a “thank you” – the company didn’t say. Unfortunately, the 64GB version is not part of the offer.

Talking about bundled software, Samsung also provide a full version of Norton Ghost, a utility that helps users backup full drive images, which is very convenient –among other things- when switching from a (mechanical) hard disk drive (HDD) to an all-electronic solid-state drive (SSD).

Update: after some of the comments below have been posted, we contacted Samsung to know what was going on. We have been told that the “Ghost Recon: Future Soldier game code is included in the 830 Series SSD desktop and notebook kit and not the basic version (without installation kit)”. A representative also said that “Samsung will provide anyone that has bought the 830 Series SSD this month, and did not receive the code, with a download code. Customers can call 1-800-SAMSUNG or email ssdsupport@sea.samsung.com for a download code”.

Hope this helps!
