If you are an international Samsung Galaxy S3 user, you may have already received a notification prompting you to update your device. If you haven’t, then you might soon as there are reports that international versions of the Galaxy S3 are receiving updates which will bump the software on the phone up to XXBLG6. Unfortunately this is not the highly anticipated Jelly Bean update, but rather a small 27MB OTA update which basically removes local search from the device’s Google Search App on top of stability and security improvements. This is probably a preemptive move on Samsung’s part in an effort not to get the Galaxy S3 banned like the Galaxy Nexus (which was then unbanned after the update), unless of course Apple finds something new which they can use to seek an injunction against the Galaxy S3. However for now, it looks like they might be in the clear.
