The phablet trend has certainly kicked off and it looks like it could be here to stay, and for those shopping on a budget and want to own such a device, ZTE might have something up their sleeves. Thanks to a leak by China’s TENAA (via GizChina), we now have a glimpse of ZTE’s 5” offering in the form of the U887. It does not have the most amazing specs, but we guess the highlight here would be its presumably affordable price tag and the large screen. So what can customers look forward to then? Well for starters the U887 is expected to sport a 5” 400×800 display, not the highest of resolutions but it should get the job done. It will also come with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor accompanied by 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 2,000mAh battery, a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 3MP front-facing camera. It is unclear as to which version of Android it will come with, but it’s probably safe to assume that it will at the very least feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This isn’t the first 5” smartphone that ZTE has – word has it that the company could be set to unveil the ZTE Nubia Z5 this Friday, and the ZTE Grand S at CES 2013.
