RIM is steadily declining in terms of smartphone market share, and there could be a variety of reasons behind it. It could be due to the hardware, which was only recently upgraded with the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 (1.2GHz processor) to put it somewhat on par with current smartphones today. It could also be due to its design, or it could also be due to the platform, which RIM is hoping to change with the Blackberry OS 7, which will also be making an appearance on the Bold Touch 9900.

Perhaps not entirely satisfied with what he has seen on OS 7, 16-year old BongsVision has created a concept video of what he thinks the Blackberry OS 8 should look like, assuming of course RIM survives until OS 8.

Based on the video, it looks like he is envisioning future Blackberry devices to be completely touch screen, and it also appears that he may have been inspired by Android and iOS. Regardless where he may have gotten some of his ideas from, it looks pretty good, although we’re not sure if RIM will be picking up on it any time soon.

The question is, are there any ex-Blackberry owners out there who may have jumped ship to Android or iOS, and who might have stayed on if the future of the Blackberry OS ended up looking like that?
