newipadsSo, the dust has started to settle from the iOS 7.1 update release for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, but is there more than meets the eye? Apparently so, as it seems that when one decides to dig deeper into the iOS 7.1 update, one would be able to check out references made to a couple of unannounced iPad models that have been snucked into the update itself. In a new report that hails from 9to5Mac, it seems that iOS 7.1 will feature support for “iPad 4,3” and “iPad 4,6”. Do these two model numbers sound familiar to you? The answer is obviously in the negative, since none of the existing iPads carry such model numbers. For instance, the iPad Air features the model numbers iPad 4,1 and iPad 4,2, while the iPad mini with Retina display happens to be known as the iPad 4,4 and iPad 4,5.

Unfortunately for us, such references within iOS 7.1 would remain as just that – references, without any more details being shed on the situation, we will not be able to come up with what kind of devices will the iPad 4,3 and iPad 4,6 be. Could those end up as just a minor hardware refresh of existing models, or could they be entirely new models that were specially commissioned for an overseas market? Only time will be able to tell, so sit tight and enjoy the ride!
