photoshop ccSo earlier today Microsoft officially announced the Surface Pro 3, kind of to everyone’s surprise since many had expected the Surface Mini, but it was still a good surprise nonetheless. The Surface Pro 3 is not only larger than the regular Surface tablets, but it is both thin and light as well for a device of that class, at least from our initial impressions.

While new hardware is great, what about software? Well in order to show off some of the software that will be supported by the Surface Pro 3, Microsoft called Adobe onto stage where they presented a new version of Photoshop CC. For professionals who require the use of Photoshop during the course of their work, the upcoming version of Photoshop CC could be worth your attention.

This version of Photoshop has been designed specifically for touchscreens and styluses in mind. Adobe has doubled the size of the icons and UI within the app to make them more touch friendly, which is a great idea, making it easier for users to tap functions with their fingers and making gestures like pinch-to-zoom work more smoothly.

It has also been designed to support high density displays, like the one on the Surface Pro 3 (which features a 12-inch 2160×1440 display). Adobe did not mention when the new version of Photoshop CC will be released, or which other devices it would play nicely with, but for professionals, this is definitely something to look forward to.
