mlgJust what do you classify as a sport? Must it involve any kind of sweat, or is cerebral power in a game of chess good enough? Well, the world of eSports has managed to help some sponsored gamers put food on the table, and then some, for a fair number of years already, but if there is one way to see whether progress is happening or not, it would be this – the opening of a 14,000-square foot arena that is specially dedicated just to gaming.

Folks living in the U.S. will eventually be able to proudly say that the country’s first ever pro-focused esports arena is located in Columbus, Ohio. When Major League Gaming officiates the place to MLG.tv Arena some time later next month, you will find the newly revamped building feature “a main stage set up, sound proof booths, lights, video screens, bleachers, monitors, IT and video equipment to broadcast via MLG.tv.”

It remains to be seen whether this particular arena will feature as an extension of MLG’s existing circuit, or will the Columbus arena function as the brand new hub for the company’s eSports operations. Do you think that such venues will be more and more popular across different states in the US down the road?
