plex-playstation

About two months back the Plex app was launched for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Naturally at that time people asked if an app would be released for Sony’s consoles as well. We got our answer today. The official Plex application is now available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. It comes as a result of requests from Plex users on the company’s forums, the rise in requests made the company take note and get down to developing this application for Sony’s consoles.

Plex revealed that ever since the first feature request was submitting, asking for this app to be released for PlayStation as well, it has been voted by supported nearly one thousand times. It even became the number one request that Plex has ever received so naturally it had to listen.

The team reveals that they started work on the PlayStation version before the Xbox One app and now they’re finally done. Today the app is being launched in Europe and most parts of Asia. The U.S. launch is on the cards but we’ll have to wait until the “near future.”

If you’re curious about the user interface look no further than how this app presents itself on the Xbox One or VIZIO TV. Its more or less the same on PlayStation. There are some limitations as well, support for photos, music and channels will be added at a later time, the app is only available for Plex Pass holders and supports video only and library only. Support for non-Plex Pass users will arrive in the future.
