outlook appBack in December 2014, Microsoft announced that they would be acquiring email management app Acompli. Now we’re sure many of you guys are wondering what Microsoft has planned for the app, whether or not they’ll kill off the app entirely, or maybe make something out of it. Thankfully for fans of Acompli, the app lives, although now Microsoft has since rebranded it to Outlook.

For those who are looking for a more powerful or functional email management app for their Outlook or Exchange emails, you will be pleased to learn that the newly launched Outlook app should be able to deliver on that, and all in the form of Acompli which some of you might be familiar with.

According to Julia White, Microsoft’s general manager of Office, “We have been and we’ll continue to update the app weekly. So in a very short period time you’ll start to see variance from the Acompli app that will not be updated after that point.” What this means is that for now the app will look and feel similar to Acompli, but expect that over time Microsoft will be adding their own touches to it.

The app is free for download and is available on both iOS and Android devices. If you’d like to get your hands on the Microsoft Outlook app, head on over to either the iTunes App Store or Google Play for the download.
