tablescape_1Taking photos of your meals and sharing it on social media is a pretty common practice these days. As it stands there are multiple platforms that users can use, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Google+, although these platforms tend to play home to other photos and videos as well.

It seems that Google has decided that maybe sharing photos of food should become an actual platform of its own and according to the folks at El Androide Libre (via Android Police), word on the street has it that Google could be planning a social network with food photo sharing as its main focus.

The social network is said to be called Tablescape and like we said, the main goal of the social network is to share photos of your food with others, and for you to browse photos of food as well. It is also said that the service will be like an extension of Google+, but it has been optimized for the sharing and browsing of food photos.

At the moment it seems like the service is being tested internally at Google which means that it is unclear as to how far along in development it is (although based on the screenshots it looks pretty good), or if Google even plans to release it at all. No word on when it will be launched, but hopefully we will be able to find out more in the coming weeks or months. In the meantime what do you guys think? Is this a social network you’d love to be a part of?
