Earlier this week we reported that a new Rock Band title is possibly under development and thus it could land on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point later this year. Now there’s a report which claims a new Guitar Hero title is being developed which would also put this popular franchise on the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Apparently the new title will be announced at the E3 conference this year.

Kotaku claims to have heard from two different sources that a new Guitar Hero game is being developed for next-generation consoles, and it says that the title will take “a more realistic” approach than previous titles in this franchise. New guitar peripherals are also said to be in development.

According to the report this title might be unveiled at E3 and a release could take place by the end of 2015. The previous title in this franchise, Warriors of Rock, was released back in September 2010.

It isn’t known for sure right now which studio is developing the new title, there is speculation that it might be one of Activision’s studios on the West Coast, which would mean that Vicarious Visions would have nothing to do with it.

When contacted by the scribe for a comment on the possible revival of this beloved music game franchise an Activision spokesperson pointed out that they don’t comment on rumor or speculation.
