It was rumored recently that Google might pick a Chinese company to manufacture the next Nexus device. For its previous devices the company linked up with Motorola. LG has served as a manufacturer as well a few years ago. We know that Google doesn’t stick with just one company for its Nexus devices so one can consider that Google could go with a Chinese OEM. According to reports out of the country Huawei is the OEM that Google has picked.

Huawei was actually named as one of the OEMs that Google was considering to team up with for the next Nexus device. According to rumors Google will also partner with LG for a device that will be released later this year.

This confirmation of sorts comes from iSuppli’s Director of China Research, Kevin Yang, who posted on Weibo that Huawei has been picked as the manufacturer for the next Nexus. However Yang doesn’t provide any evidence to support his claim so its best to take it with a grain of salt for now.

The question remains though if its Huawei that’s going to build this device will it opt for its own Kirin processor or go with one from Qualcomm? Another crucial question is that whether Huawei will be making a Nexus smartphone or a Nexus tablet? We should find out the answers to these questions a little later this year.
