The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset which means that by itself, it provides the wearer with a pretty immersive gaming experience. However that immersion is only visual and if you’re looking for added stimuli to help make your experience even more realistic, there is an add-on accessory called the FeelReal that you might be interested in.
The FeelReal is a Bluetooth accessory that is worn by the user over their mouth. From there, the device will be able to pump out a variety of different odors as well as water mist and wind to help users feel more immersed in the game that they are playing. So for example if your character were to stand near a waterfall, the water mist function could activate thus giving you the sensation of water being sprayed at you.
The wind generator can also pump out warm air to give gamers the feeling that they are in a desert or near a fire. There will also be vibrations for haptic feedback. At the moment the device is capable of producing seven different scents and if this is something you might be interested in, you can learn more about it on its website.
Now we’re not sure how many people would actually be interested in smelling and feeling the games that they are playing, but if you are then perhaps this device might be worth getting.
