A couple of weeks back it was reported that Samsung had started work on the Android 5.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. There’s no official release timeframe yet provided by Samsung so it can’t be said for sure precisely when this update is going to be released. There’s word today from a Canadian carrier that hints at the possibility that the Galaxy S6 Andorid 5.1 update might be released next month, in June 2015.

The information comes from Canadian carrier Rogers which has issued its latest OS Update Schedule. The schedule states that Android 5.1 for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is due to arrive in June.

This happens to be the first time that’s close to an actual release timeframe that we have for this update right now, Samsung has not yet backed up Rogers’ claims.

Rogers does mention in the fine print that there’s always a possibility that the release dates might be changed so keep that in mind, but for now it does believe that Android 5.1 Galaxy S6 will indeed come out next month.

As for what the update will bring for the device, Android 5.1 is expected to add a Guest Mode to Samsung’s new handsets as well as advanced camera features, which includes the ability to capture images in RAW format.
