gtav_details09122014_015Games these days can be bought either digitally, or for those who are a bit more old school or who like collecting, games can also be bought in their physical form where it comes with the game’s manual, extra artwork, and a DVD installation disc. That being said we know Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 is a popular game, but how popular are we talking about?

According to the latest market data released by GfK Chart-Track, it seems that the boxed copy version of Grand Theft Auto 5 has actually sold a whopping 5 million copies in the UK. It should be noted that these figures are for the physical copy of the game, so we’re not talking about a combined figure, but rather the figure from one channel alone which is why we are pretty impressed.

The impressive figures of the game aren’t a complete surprise. Back in 2013 when the game was first launched, it was estimated that Rockstar managed to pull in $1 billion in revenue in three days. Analysts have also predicted that the game sold 15 million copies within its first week of availability, with the game topping the UK’s list as the best selling game ever.

We can only imagine that the recent release for newer consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One have helped its sales, not to forget the release on the PC which is something that PC gamers have been asking for for the past couple of years.
