Tumblr-TV

Are you a GIF lover? Do you forage the internet for GIFs all the time? And to top it all, you play these GIFs in loop, umm just for fun? Well, Tumblr has got your back. It has come up with Tumblr TV, which playbacks GIFs endlessly in full-screen format, the GIFs included on the basis of their presence on internet.

It is not like a regular video channel or something, more of a bizarre concept by Tumblr to please GIF lovers with strong dosage of popular GIFs on the Tumblr platform. Each GIF gets a loop of three times and then the next GIF takes its place, it also presents users with few controls over how many times it should play.

This new section by Tumblr can be explored at Tumblr.com/TV, which is actually a full screen video player with GIF playing in the center and faded shot of it on right and the left side just to make the screen look full. Another feature is that Tumblr users can create a personalized channel for their blog by going to this link Tumblr.com/tv/@blogname. Users can take the GIFs on the basis of hashtags available on the Tumblr TV section and they will get a narrowed down view of various topics.

So, what is the point behind adding this feature? Even Tumblr has no answer to it, its blog post reads, “We kind of made this whole thing by accident,”. On being asked the reason behind the concept, the blog states, “This is the ‘90s, baby! Anything goes!”. We can’t say much about how this feature is going to perform for Tumblr, but for GIF lovers it is nothing less than a treat.
