youtube gamingIf you wanted to watch gamers live stream their gaming sessions, then chances are you might turn to Twitch to get your fix as the platform is currently the most popular choice at the moment, and we also suppose it’s one of the few options out there. That being said it looks like competition in the space is about to get heated up.

Google has confirmed that YouTube Gaming will officially launch on the 26th of August. The service was originally announced in June with a promise for a summer launch and there were many rumors preceding its announcement, like how Google had originally intended to acquire Twitch but due to antitrust concerns, they decided it would be better to create their own service instead.

The service will be more or less similar to Twitch where viewers can tune into streams to watch all kinds of games. It will also include pages where viewers can watch promotional videos, gameplay footage, and more, so it won’t be limited to just live streams. There will also be a chat functionality where viewers can chat with streamers during the event, and for those wondering about quality, it seems that YouTube Gaming will stream at 60fps.

So for those who are interested, it is expected to go live at 10AM PT, 1PM ET, and 6PM BT tomorrow. It will be available via the web or via its Android or iOS apps which have yet to be released.
