lumia_950_xlNow some of you guys might have heard us report on devices like the Lumia 940, Lumia 940 XL, Lumia 950, and the Lumia 950 XL. The specs of these devices are similar which has created some confusion, but a recent tweet by @evleaks has cleared it up. According to him, Microsoft’s Lumia flagship will be officially branded as the Lumia 950, not the Lumia 940.

Like we said, both model numbers have been tossed around before and we have to admit we ourselves were just as confused, so hopefully this makes it clearer now. Of course it is still a rumor as Microsoft has yet to confirm it, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but given @evleaks’ track record, there might be some truth to his claims.

As a quick recap for those who might have missed the rumors, both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have been pegged for a 19th of October launch. Both devices share quite a lot of similar specs, save for their displays and processors. For example the Lumia 950 will feature a 5.2-inch display while the Lumia 950 XL will sport a 5.7-inch display.

The Lumia 950 is also rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor while the Lumia 950 XL will come with a Snapdragon 810. Either way both phones sound pretty promising and look pretty nice too, at least based on the leaked renders, so check back with us in October for the details.
