clear_note_5The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 comes in a variety of color options and finishes. However it seems that the options afforded by Samsung did not please one user who goes by the handle Skarface08 on Reddit. So much so that what decided to do was create a clear, see-through version of the Galaxy Note 5 as you can see in the photo above.

Note that this is not a version that Samsung is selling. Instead this was a DIY effort which according to the poster, was done by basically peeling off the color film from the phone’s back panel. Other tools involved in this process include a heat gun, suction cup, and a razor. The process does not appear to take long, but we suppose you should be careful with the razor so you don’t nick the plastic.

According to Skarface08, “You first have to heat it up. I use a Ecoheat gun that gets it really hot, the use a suction cup to pry the back off. After that you let it cool off a bit and take off all the film with a razor blade. Then i just stuck it back on the phone because there was already aghesive [sic] on the actual device.”

He even did the same trick with the Galaxy S6 Edge. Now we’re not sure if doing this will void your warranty, but we suppose if you don’t know what you’re doing, maybe it’s not the best idea, but if you want to create a unique look for your phone, this could be one way to go about it. In the meantime additional devices of the process can be found here.
