The update is going to add some of the features that have already been available on the mobile apps for as long as six months.

Twitter regularly releases updates for its iOS and Android applications but the Mac app hasn’t seen such love and care. It has been a very long time since a major update was released for the Mac app.

At its Flight developer conference today Twitter confirmed that it will release a revamped version of Twitter for Mac in the near future. It’s going to get support for embedded Tweets, inline video and Vine playback, group DMs and photos in DMs, highlights in notifications tab and much more.

Twitter users will be well aware that these features are far from new, they have been available on the web and on the mobile apps for months. Many of them however will appreciate that a dark mode has also been promised for the Mac app.
