Vertu-New-Signature-Touch-2015For those who are unfamiliar with Vertu, they are a smartphone manufacturer that specializes in creating luxury handsets. For those hankering for a bit of trivia, Vertu was a brand that was created by Nokia but in 2012, the Finnish company decided to sell off the brand but at the same time retaining a 10% stake in the company.

Fast forward to today, it looks like Vertu will be selling themselves off again, and this time it will be to a group of Chinese investors. The company that now owns the brand is called Godin Holdings which is based in Hong Kong, along with international private investors who were not named as part of the acquisition.

Following this deal, the company’s CEO Massimiliano Pogliani will be stepping down from his position. The company’s operations in the UK are expected to remain intact where it currently employs as many as 450 employees. No word on what is in the future for the company and if they plan on keeping it the way it is or if there will be some significant shakeups.

A report from September had indicated that Vertu could be considering getting into wearables, and given their proclivity to create luxury devices, if and when they do we expect nothing less. Either way we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes and ears peeled for more information.
