We reported yesterday that the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update might soon be released for the HTC One M8. The Google Play Edition of this handset has already been updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow so it’s natural that owners of other variants are getting restless. There’s good news though for those who own an unlocked HTC One M8.

Vice president of product management at HTC, Mo Versi, took to Twitter and confirmed that all testing on Marshmallow for the unlocked HTC One M8 has been completed and that the company is going to start rolling out said update later today.

Owners of the unlocked variant are at an obvious advantage because there are not going to be any carrier delays, HTC will directly release the update to unlocked One M8 owners across the globe.

There might be delays involved for folks who have a carrier locked variant of this handset because the update first has to be submitted to the carrier for after, it’s only after the approval has been granted that the update is gradually rolled out.

Nevertheless seeing as how the Marshmallow update process has already begun for HTC One M8, it really may not take more than a couple of weeks for this update to reach all variants of this handset.
