apple_logo2Is the Apple Car an actual thing, or are we reading too much into things? Given Apple’s secretive nature, we suppose we’ll never know until they actually announce it, but in the meantime it looks like there is mounting evidence to suggest that Apple could be somewhat interested in cars.

Recently it has been discovered that Apple has been going about registering domain names that are related to cars. For example they registered domains such as, “apple.car”, “apple.cars”, and “apple.auto”. It is possible that they are simply trying to prevent fake websites popping up to spread rumors, or it could also be related to CarPlay, although it seems odd that it would need an entire website of its own.

Of course it could also be true that Apple is developing their own electric/self-driving car and that these domains are registered to prevent cybersquatting. This recent domain registration is just the latest in the evidence pointing towards the Apple Car being a reality. Previously we had seen Apple hire employees with automobile related backgrounds.

To be more specific, it has been reported that Apple had been poaching former Tesla employees, something that Tesla’s CEO seemingly confirmed when he called Apple the “Tesla Graveyard” for former employees. In any case we suggest you not get your hopes up just yet, but maybe you can file this away for future reference.
