It has been known for a while now that LG is working on its own mobile payment service that it plans to bring to the market this year. Previous reports suggested that we might see LG Pay being unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2016 but it appears that the launch has been pushed back. A company official cited in a new report says that LG Pay will not be unveiled at MWC 2016.

“LG Electronics has delayed the official launch of LG Pay to the second quarter of this year to help the new LG flagship smartphone ― G5 ― receive more media attention,” says an LG official, according to The Korea Times paper.

The official denied recent claims that LG is having to push back the launch of its payments service because of abysmal support from card issuers, not believing that the decision to push forward the launch was made due to this reason.

Many would have expected the company to talk about this service during its upcoming press event on February 21st. Obviously, the highlight of the event is going to be the LG G5, which this time around is being unveiled on the very same day as the Galaxy S7.

Mobile World Congress 2016 kicks off February 22nd and will feature products from some of the biggest companies on the planet, companies like LG for example.
