It has been a few months since Google released Android 6.0 Marshmallow but many major OEMs have yet to upgrade their flagship handsets to the new firmware. It’s going to be a gradual process for everybody, particularly those with carrier-locked devices, but the pace is likely to increase in the coming weeks. Days after it was confirmed that T-Mobile will release Marshmallow for HTC One M9 on February 16th, it has also been confirmed that Verizon will roll out the update on the same date as well.

The confirmation comes from HTC VP of product management Mo Versi who tweeted that the company has received carrier approval for this update and that the Verizon HTC One M9 Marshmallow update has been approved. He also confirmed that the OTA update will roll out on February 16th.

All of the features that come part and parcel of Marshmallow will be included in this update, features like Now on Tap, Doze mode and the user interface improvements that have been. Expect some pre-loaded apps as well courtesy of your carrier.

It’s good that the HTC One M9 is finally getting Marshmallow, users have most certainly been waiting for a very long time, but it remains to be seen when HTC is going to have this update out for the rest of its supported devices.
