Sony has finally started taking pre-orders for its virtual reality headset. Even though it won’t arrive for the next few months, the first wave of pre-orders sold out quickly and Amazon had to bring in additional inventory just to meet demand. If the PlayStation VR launch bundle didn’t appeal to you perhaps you’d like to place a pre-order for the VR headset only. Today is the day that Sony starts taking pre-orders for just the PlayStation VR headset. Pre-orders open 10 am ET.

The PlayStation VR launch bundle features the headset, PlayStation Camera and Move controllers for $499. If you already have the Camera and Move controllers then you obviously don’t need this bundle.

Sony had previously announced the launch bundle only but when fans pointed out that not all of them needed the launch bundle, it announced that it would start taking pre-orders for the VR headset only starting today, and it has followed through on that promise.

The PlayStation VR headset can be pre-ordered today starting 10 am ET for $399. It’s likely to sell out soon so don’t waste any time if you’d like to be among the first ones to receive the headset.

PlayStation VR isn’t due to arrive until October this year and according to several reports, before the headset is released Sony is going to launch an updated PlayStation 4 which has support for 4K gaming.
