Since Google owns Waze you would expect the company to bring all new features to the Android app but that’s not the case here. The company today announced that it’s soon going to release a major update for Waze on Android. The update will look familiar to iOS users because they got this update back in October last year.

Google hasn’t confirmed precisely when the new update is going to be released, it has only said that Waze for Android version 4.0 is “coming soon.”

Users will immediately notice the improvements to the user interface once they upgrade to the new app. There are new animations as well aside from the user interface tweaks enabling users to navigate to their destinations more efficiently.

Preset destinations can be accessed through the left side panel and the app will now provide better alerts for what’s coming up on the route. Reporting traffic jams and accidents is now easier and users can also share their ETAs with people they want to so that they know when the person they’re waiting for is going to arrive.

Waze for Android version 4.0 looks pretty good and I’m sure users on Google’s mobile platform can’t wait to get their hands on this latest update. From the looks of it, the new app might arrive in just a couple of days.
