Earlier today HTC unveiled its new flagship smartphone and it’s touting premium audio as one of the selling points of this product. Premium audio requires a similar accessory to provide users with the ultimate experience and HTC aims to achieve that with JBL. It has partnered with the audio firm to launch a pair of new USB Type-C noise cancelling earphones.

The Reflect Aware C earphones from HTC and JBL don’t have a standard 3.5mm jack instead they connect with the smartphone via USB Type-C which means that they really won’t be useful if you want to use the earphones with an iPod.

These earphones need to be hooked up via USB Type-C because the connector is used to bring in power from the HTC 10 so that the onboard adjustable active noise cancellation circuitry can be operated. The Reflect Aware C also feature an in-line with volume controls as well as a microphone so that they can also be used for making calls hands free.

HTC also points out that these earphones have a sweat-proof design with digital audio and battery-free active noise cancellation, meaning that you can shut out the world just as well when you’re killing it at the gym.

No pricing and availability details for the Reflect Aware C earphones have been made public yet but the information is likely to arrive in the near future.
