Developer Seemingly Confirms VR Games Coming To Xbox One

xbox-one-hands-on-review-05From what we can tell, especially with the creation of the HoloLens, that Microsoft’s pursuit in reality is more augmented rather than virtual. However it is hard to ignore the fact that virtual reality seems to be the more favored tech at the moment, which is why it wasn’t surprising to learn that an earlier rumor indicated that the next-gen Xbox One would support the Oculus Rift.

Now as if to confirm that rumor, a report from ArsTechnica claims that they have confirmed with a developer that virtual reality games are indeed coming to the Xbox One. According to the developer which was later confirmed by a PR rep, they are developing a VR game for the Xbox One that will be released in 2017.

Not much is known about the game, but apparently it is set in a universe of an established and long-running franchise, and that the developers are a well-known studio in Europe, which we guess helps to eliminate some names but at the same time makes it anyone’s guess. Apparently it isn’t just for the Xbox One as the developers are reportedly making it for the PC and PS4 as well.

This makes sense as the PC as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, while the PS4 will have access to PlayStation VR. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but the information is said to be part of the pre-E3 planning meaning that we will probably learn about it during the event in which we expect new consoles from Sony and Microsoft to be announced.
