xiaomi droneAlong with wearable technology and virtual reality, drones are also one of the hot topics in tech right now. Putting aside regulatory issues and how drones could potentially be commercialized and used for deliveries, there seems to be many companies looking to hop on board that bandwagon and it looks like Xiaomi could be next.

In a recent post on the Xiaomi forums, the company has posted a couple of images which seems to tease the fact that they will be announcing a drone of their own in the coming days. As you can see in the image to the left, it looks like it could be the underbelly of the drone with a camera, and the image to the right hints at some kind of flying technology.

Xiaomi even tosses the term “flying” in there for good measure, in case it wasn’t obvious already. “Something wonderful and cool is flying to us very soon.  ABamboo-copter? In China, it’s the earliest flying toys consisted of feathers at the end of a stick, which was rapidly spun between the hands and released into flight.  Shall we discover the world with Mi_________________________ ?”

There have been hints that Xiaomi has been getting ready to launch a drone. For example an app was leaked that showed 4K recording capabilities for its drone, and a patent for a quadcopter that could be controlled via a wearable. In any case the announcement is expected to take place on the 25th of May, so remember to check back with us then for the details.
