Rumor has it that Microsoft isn’t going to launch the Surface Pro 5 tablet later this month. Instead, it will wait for the Kaby lake processors from Intel and use them in its new tablet. The Surface Pro 5 is also rumored to feature a 4K Ultra High Definition display. As of now it’s believed that this new high-end Microsoft tablet is going to be released in September this year. Microsoft hasn’t really stuck to a concrete release timeframe for Surface tablets so there’s no reason to not believe that the tablet could be out this September.

It’s also rumored that the Surface Pro 5 tablet will have a higher capacity battery, a USB Type-C port, an improved Surface Pen, while maintaining the price point of its predecessor. Surface Pro 5 may start at $799 for the base model and go up to $1799 for the top-of-the-line model.

Intel’s Kaby Lake processors are built on the 14nm process and they offer improved performance over the Skylake processor. Intel is expected to start mass production of the new chips later this quarter, which would mean that Microsoft will have to wait until the third quarter to launch this tablet.

None of this has been officially confirmed by Microsoft yet, it’s all speculation at this point in time, so take it all with a grain of salt until there’s more information about the new Surface Pro tablet from Microsoft.
