samsung_z2_officialSo we have been hearing a bit about the Samsung Z2, another Tizen smartphone by the South Korean tech giant. Following yesterday’s alleged official renders, it looks like we will no longer need to speculate and look at rumors because Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Z2.

Like we said, this is Samsung’s latest attempt at a Tizen smartphone. The company’s previous Tizen efforts have been pretty well-received in the markets it has launched in, so hopefully the Samsung Z2 will be able to maintain that momentum. The specs of the phone are also pretty much in line with everything we’ve heard so far.

This includes its 3.97-inch display, its quad-core chipset by Spreadtrum, its 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. There will also be a 1,500mAh battery which is admittedly rather small when compared to other phones these days, but given that the Samsung Z2 isn’t exactly what you would call a powerhouse, it should be enough to keep the lights on.

We are also looking at a 5MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 4G LTE connectivity, which is a first for Tizen smartphones, and it will run on the latest Tizen 2.4 operating system. It is priced at around $70 and will be available in India come 29th of August, but there is no mention of whether it will be released for other markets.
