Twitter really wants to be the online destination for live streams and it’s working hard to establish itself as a big player in this arena. Soon after hosting live streams of the Democratic National Convention, The Championships at Wimbledon as well as NHL and MLB games, the micro-blogging network is now turning its attention towards Hollywood. It’s going to host a live stream of Suicide Squad’s New York City premiere.

Many of you will be well aware that Suicide Squad is one of the most highly anticipated movies of this year, so it makes sense for Twitter to jump into the world of entertainment live streaming with such a massive movie.

The Suicide Squad New York City premiere starts later today at 6 pm at the Beacon Theater. Twitter is going to host a live stream of the proceedings on a special page which will showcase real-time tweets alongside the live stream.

Twitter’s red carpet live stream is being produced by BuzzFeed Motion Pictures, it will feature interviews with the cast and commentary will be provided by Keith Habersberger and Zach Kornfeld of BuzzFeed’s “Try Guys.”

Suicide Squad is being anxiously awaited by DC Comics fans across the globe. The movie hits the big screen worldwide on August 5th.
