iPhone_7_Plus_LeanThe iPhone 7 and 7 Plus went up for pre-order last Friday. However within the span of a few hours, the jet black model’s shipping estimates had slipped to November, which we thought at that time meant that the only way you’d be able to get your hands on that color option is by going to an Apple Retail Store this Friday to try your luck.

Unfortunately that is a no-go either because Apple has confirmed that the jet black iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models are pretty much sold out and won’t be available in the retail stores either. According to Apple’s statement, “Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in jet black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers.”

It also sounds like other models will be limited in quantity as well, so if you aren’t in the queue already or if you haven’t made a reservation, good luck trying to buy an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus on launch day itself! Apple’s statement adds, “We couldn’t be happier with the initial response to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and we are looking forward to beginning sales through our retail stores and partners around the world.”

That being said, Apple is said to have planned at least 100 million units by the end of the year, so hopefully supply will begin to ease up in the coming weeks or months.
