nintendo-logoNot much is known about the Nintendo NX, simply because Nintendo has been rather mum about its specs, features, and design. Instead what we have heard so far are simply rumors, and one of those rumors include how the NX could be some kind of handheld hybrid console. Of course rumors are just that, but we might have gotten some confirmation.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, The Pokemon Company’s CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara seemed to have let slip that the NX has handheld capabilities. Ishihara was quoted as saying, “The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device. We will make games for the NX.”

Ishihara’s interview was also where he confirmed that Pokemon would be arriving on the NX, and given how the game has typically been played using handheld consoles (and more recently smartphones), we guess we could have already alluded that the NX would have some kind of mobile form factor.

In any case word has it that Nintendo will be revealing the NX in full towards the later part of this year, which we reckon would make sense if they plan on releasing it in March 2017, so do check back with us later for more updates.
