Twitter Allowing Users To Mark Tweets They Don’t Like

Earlier this year, much to many users’ annoyance, Twitter announced that they would be shaking up its timeline where instead of tweets being shown in reverse chronological order, it would be adopting a similar algorithm to Facebook and Instagram where tweets that the platform thinks are relevant to you are shown first.

Now the good news is that if you have kind of embraced the program but think that some tweets are a little out of place, it seems that Twitter has enabled server-side a feature that lets you mark tweets that you don’t like. This has been confirmed to BuzzFeed News by a Twitter spokesperson.

As you can see in the screenshot above, users will be given the option to mark a tweet with “I don’t like this Tweet”. Presumably the more you mark tweets, the better the algorithm gets at determining what you like and don’t like, so we guess ultimately the onus is on you to help Twitter show you more posts that you actually care about.

The feature is apparently rolling out users as we speak, although it seems that it is only available on iOS devices right now, but presumably Android devices and desktop users should be able to expect the feature to arrive eventually as well.
