snapchat_spectaclesBack in September, Snapchat unveiled a completely new product in the form of Spectacles, a more fun and lighthearted take on smart glasses. As you might have heard, the device went on sale yesterday and it seems that within a day, they have completely sold out. For those wondering, the device was initially made available via a single vending machine in Venice Beach.

This explains why it went out of stock so quickly. Spectacles retailed for $130 but it seems that many enterprising users have since started hawking their wares on eBay where some auctions are fetching anywhere between $600 and even going as high $980. The machine that sold the glasses used a credit card reader and only allowed customers to purchase two pairs each.

However the good news is that Snapchat has stated that they will be changing locations on a daily basis, meaning that if you missed out on the chance to buy one at Venice Beach, not to worry as you will be able to try your luck somewhere else. All you have to do is check the Spectacles’ website to find out where the next location will be. Until then maybe you should hold off from dropping $1,000 on a pair from eBay.
